BARE SKINCARE
I just finished up my last week at Bare Minerals. I had been there for two and a half years and learned many life lessons that I will carry with me forever - one of those being knowing the importance of taking care of my skin.
WHY IS SKINCARE IMPORTANT?
I love makeup – getting to practice my artistry each morning is my favorite part of every day. I use makeup because it is fun, (and here's the important part) not because I want to cover up my skin. I've worked with so many women who tell me they need to cover up their imperfections. Makeup is not a permanent fix. This is where the importance of skincare comes in...to actually fix those imperfections and make your skin healthy.
SKIN TYPE :
The first thing to know when you're looking for new skincare is what your skin type is (ex: oily, combination, normal to dry, dry). Are you sensitive to products? Are you acne prone? What are your skin concerns? I am normal to dry and sensitive to many products with parabens and chemicals in them. I also have occasional breakouts due to stress. If you fit into any of those categories, you're in luck because that's the skin care regimen I'll be sharing!
To start, I would recommend a cleanser, serum, and moisturizer for a basic/daily regimen (hang in there with me – I use a lot).
STEP 1 (CLEANSE) :
Step 1 AKA clean your face! Even if you don't wear makeup, your face is dirty by the end of the day (tbh it's probably covered in dirt + oils produced throughout the day – ew).
For my every day cleanser and makeup remover, I use Pure Plush (Gentle Deep Cleansing Foam) because you can use it on the eyes and it gives an overall *squeaky clean* feeling when you rinse your face.
For days that I need a little more of a deep cleansing, I use Clay Chameleon (Transforming Purifying Cleanser) because it has Brazilian red clay and papaya to deep cleanse the pores (goodbye, blackheads). This one is fun to use this one as a face mask.
And for the days where I can't catch a break with blemishes, I use Blemish Remedy (Acne Treatment Gelée Cleanser). It's an oil-free cleanser with Salicylic Acid to treat existing blemishes and prevent future breakouts. I don't use this one every day because of my sometimes dry skin. If you're oily... this may help with that so use as you please!
All three of these cleansers have mineral-rich sea salts that help refine and gently exfoliate your skin.
STEP 2 (TREAT) :
When it comes to serums and skin treatments a good rule of thumb is to start with the thinnest product (serums) and work your way to the thickest (usually eye creams + moisturizers). I use Skin Longevity to give my skin what it needs to stay healthy and defend itself against visible signs of aging or damage. Sometimes I will mix this in with my moisturizer in the morning to help everything absorb faster if I'm in a rush.
STEP 3 (MOISTURIZE) :
I have two moisturizers – one is my basic every day moisturizer, and another for winter (bc MN winters cause my skin to be a desert)
Every day I use Bare Haven (Essential Moisturizing Soft Cream) which is a lightweight moisturizer for normal to dry skin types.
During the winter I use Butter Drench (Restorative Rich Cream) because it's a thick moisturizer that doesn't feel too heavy once it's on your skin.
TEXTURE VISUAL + PRICING :
1 : Blemish Remedy ($20)
2 : Pure Plush ($22)
3 : Clay Chameleon ($22)
4 : Skin Longevity ($48)
5 : Bare Haven ($35)
6 : Butter Drench ($38)
Overall, these products are pretty affordable considering many skincare lines run extremely expensive, there are multiple options of skincare regimens for all of the different skin types, and as for seeing results – the compliments I have received from other women prove that these products are working to give me a noticeable healthy complexion.
(ALSO. They all smell AMAZING).
